  • Type: indica-dominant hybrid, usually listed around 70/30 to 75/25
  • Heritage: most commonly reported as Master Kush x OG Kush with a third unknown parent; the exact breeder is not well documented, so ask the supplier if the jar lists a specific cut
  • THC: commonly 17–24%, with stronger batches pushing the mid-20s and CBD under 1%
  • Smell: earthy pine and sour fuel up front, sweet herbal and a little coffee-ground funk behind it
  • Taste: pine and earth on the inhale, sweet herbal middle with a little black licorice, diesel and light pepper on the exhale
  • Smoking experience: calm head first, then a heavy body settle, quiet and slow rather than chatty

Platinum OG gets its name from the look before anything else. A good jar is coated in so much frost the buds read silver-white. The lineage most folks repeat is Master Kush crossed with OG Kush plus a mystery third parent, which explains the classic Kush earth stacked on OG fuel. The smoke is pine, dirt, and diesel with a sweet herbal edge and a little black licorice on the back end, THC commonly lands high teens to mid-20s, and the high leans heavy indica. This is not a candy jar. It is old-school OG done straight.

Open a solid Platinum OG jar and the first thing that hits is pine and wet earth, the Master Kush side showing up right away. Second pass brings the OG: sour fuel, a little lemon-cleaner sharpness, and a peppery bite under it. Some batches carry a sweet herbal note and a coffee-ground funk that reviewers keep pointing out. Myrcene, caryophyllene, and limonene are the terps that come up most, with pinene on the piney cuts. Grind it and the fuel gets louder.

Buds on the better cuts are dense, chunky, lime to forest green, with orange pistils buried under a thick white trichome coat. That frost is the whole point of the name. If the jar looks dull green and the trichomes are thin or amber across the board, it was either grown light or sat too long. If the nose is all hay and no pine or gas, that is a cure problem, not the strain.

On the smoke it is smooth and thick when it is dried right. Inhale is pine and earth, almost hashy. The middle goes sweet herbal with a little black licorice, that anise bite that sits on the sides of the tongue. The exhale drops diesel and black pepper, and the licorice hangs on with the Kush resin taste for a minute after. Vaped low the pine, lemon, and licorice come forward. Burned hotter it turns into straight OG gas. Ash should go light gray. Harsh, scratchy smoke usually means a rushed dry.

The high is classic indica OG. First stretch is a quiet head calm, mood settles, thoughts slow down. Then the body weight shows up: heavy shoulders, loose legs, heavy eyes. It does not have the giggly social start that candy hybrids give. Window is usually two to three hours, and bigger sessions get couch-locked fast. Dry mouth and dry eyes are the usual tax. Low tolerance should go easy, because this one builds and does not ease up.

For Mary Jane’s in Bakersfield this is an end-of-night jar. Folks who like Bubba Kush, Master Kush, and the straight OG line will feel at home with it, and it sits heavier than the fruit and dessert cuts on the menu. Ask what cut is in the jar if the menu just says Platinum OG. The Master Kush x OG Kush version is what most people mean, and it should smell like pine and gas, not sugar.
